Monument to A. A. Khanzhonkov

On August 24, 2016, a monument to one of the first Russian film makers Alexander Khanzhonkov was inaugurated in a garden square opposite to the gymnasium (now School 43), which he attended. The author of the monument is a sculptor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Sergey Oleshnya. The figure of Khanzhonkov with an old film camera is made of bronze. The basement is 2 meters high, and the sculpture is 2.5 meters high. The inscription on the basement says: “Alexander Alekseyevich Khanzhonkov, an organizer and a head of the first Russian film company. He spent his childhood and youth in Rostov-on-Don”.
