Bereft Mother Memorial

Bereft Mother Memorial

It was inaugurated on May 9, 1959. The memorial is a large concrete half-ring mounted horizontally onto two supports. On the inner side of the ring there is a metal bas-relief depicting the grieving Motherland with a laurel branch in her right hand. The broken circle, according to the authors of the memorial, is a symbol of life disrupted by the Nazi invaders… In the center of the broken ring, there is the Flame of Eternal Glory resting on 45 closed bayonets, which is a symbol of never fading glory and eternal memory of perished patriots… The Eternal Light never goes out. And schoolchildren are always on Youth Army Post 1 nearby in any weather, no matter whether it rains or snows.
